Yacht Dice — free online Board game
Roll five dice, hold the best and fill a 13-box scorecard for the biggest total.
Yacht Dice is the classic five-dice scorecard game, free to play in your browser. Each turn roll five dice up to three times, holding any dice you like between rolls, then score the result in one empty box: ones to sixes, three and four of a kind, full house, small and large straights, chance, and the 50-point Yacht for five of a kind. Reach 63 in the upper section for a 35-point bonus. Play solo to beat your high score or take on a computer that plays a strong game. No download, no sign-up.
Quick start
- Press Start, then Roll. Solo is about your high score; VS computer plays alternate turns.
- Tap dice you want to keep — they say HELD — and press Roll again. You get three rolls a turn.
- Tap a number in your scorecard column to score the dice there. The faint numbers show what each box would give.
- Fill all thirteen boxes; aim for 63 in the top section to earn the 35-point bonus.
How to play Yacht Dice
- A game is thirteen turns. Each turn you roll five dice up to three times, holding any dice between rolls.
- After rolling you must score in one empty box. Each box is used once; if the dice do not fit, the box scores 0.
- Upper section: ones to sixes score the total of that number. If the six boxes add up to 63 or more, you get a 35-point bonus.
- Three / four of a kind score the sum of all dice. Full house (three plus a pair) scores 25, small straight (four in a row) 30, large straight (five in a row) 40.
- Yacht — five of a kind — scores 50. Chance scores the sum of any dice.
- The highest total after thirteen turns wins.

Strategy tips
- Three of each number in the top section is exactly 63, so a three-of-a-kind of fives or sixes early on is a great start towards the bonus.
- Keep Chance for a bad final roll rather than using it early.
- When you are chasing a large straight, hold a run in the middle (2-3-4-5) — it can be finished from both ends.
- Late in the game, scoring 0 in a box you are unlikely to fill (often Yacht) is better than wasting a good one.
Frequently asked questions
Is this the same as other five-dice scorecard games?
It uses the familiar 13-box scorecard of Yacht-style games: ones to sixes with a 35-point bonus at 63, three and four of a kind, full house 25, straights 30 and 40, Yacht 50 and chance. There are no extra bonus Yachts or joker rules.
How good is the computer?
It tries every way of holding the dice, estimates the outcome of re-rolling, and weighs each box against what it usually scores. It averages a little over 200 points, so beating it takes a good game.
Is Yacht Dice free?
Yes. It is completely free to play in your browser, with no download, no account and no in-game purchases.
Is my high score saved?
Your best score for solo and for VS computer is saved in your browser on this device. Clearing site data resets it.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. The dice and the scorecard are sized for touch screens in portrait and landscape.
