Sea Battle is a free online naval strategy game against the computer. Place your five ships on a 10×10 grid — by hand with rotate, or with one tap on random — then take turns firing at the hidden enemy waters. Hits and misses are marked as you go, and an enemy ship only appears once it is sunk. Sink the whole fleet before the computer sinks yours. Easy, normal and hard opponents hunt more cleverly as you go up, and your victories are tracked. Play in your browser with no download and no sign-up.
Quick start
- Tap random for an instant fleet, or place your ships by hand.
- Press start battle.
- Tap the enemy grid to fire and sink all five enemy ships.
How to play Sea Battle
- Each side has a 10×10 grid and five ships: a carrier (5 squares), a battleship (4), a cruiser (3), a submarine (3) and a destroyer (2).
- Place your ships horizontally or vertically. They cannot overlap or go off the grid.
- Take turns firing at a square on the enemy grid. Each shot is marked as a hit or a miss.
- A ship sinks once every square of it has been hit. Enemy ships stay hidden until they sink.
- Sink the whole enemy fleet before the computer sinks yours to win.
Controls
- Place a ship: tap a square on your grid; rotate turns it
- Random places the whole fleet; clear removes it
- Fire: tap a square on the enemy grid
- On narrow screens, switch between your fleet and enemy waters with the tabs
Battle tips
- After a hit, try the four squares around it to find which way the ship runs.
- Hunt on a checkerboard pattern: every ship covers at least two squares, so you never need to shoot two neighbours blind.
- Spread your own ships out and avoid lining them up along the edges.

How smart is the computer?
Easy fires at random, normal finishes off any ship it has hit, and hard also searches your waters on a checkerboard pattern.

Is my progress saved?
Your victory record is saved locally in your browser on this device. Clearing site data resets it.
