Four in a Row — free online Board game
Drop your discs and line up four before the computer does.
Four in a Row is a free online strategy game against the computer. Drop red discs into a 7-column, 6-row grid and be the first to line up four in a row — across, down or diagonally — while blocking the computer’s yellow lines. Easy, medium and hard opponents search further ahead as you go up, and a running tally keeps your wins, losses and draws. Tap a column or press 1 to 7. Play in your browser with no download and no sign-up.
Quick start
- Pick easy, medium or hard.
- Tap a column to drop your red disc.
- Line up four discs before the computer does.
How to play Four in a Row
- The board has 7 columns and 6 rows. You play red, the computer plays yellow.
- On your turn, choose a column: your disc falls to the lowest empty space in it.
- Connect four of your discs in a straight line — horizontally, vertically or diagonally — to win the round.
- Block the computer whenever it has three in a line with an open end.
- If the board fills up without a line of four, the round is a draw. The score tally keeps your wins, losses and draws.
Controls
- Drop a disc: tap or click a column
- Keyboard: press 1–7 to choose a column
- Next round: the new round button
Strategy tips
- The middle column is part of the most possible lines — claim it early.
- Look for two threats at once: the computer can only block one of them.
- Watch which empty square sits right above your threat; playing under it hands your opponent the block.
