Dominoes — free online Board game
Match the ends, block your opponent and race to 100 points.
Dominoes is the classic tile-matching game, free to play in your browser against the computer. Each player gets seven tiles from a double-six set. Take turns joining a tile to either open end of the line so the numbers match; in the Draw game you take tiles from the boneyard when you cannot play, in the Block game you pass. The first player to empty their hand scores the pips left in the opponent's hand, and a blocked game goes to the lighter hand. First to 100 points wins the match. Easy, normal and hard opponents; the hard one remembers which numbers you could not follow. No download, no sign-up.
Quick start
- Press Start. The highest double opens the first hand automatically.
- Tap a tile in your hand that matches an open end. If it fits both ends, tap the glowing end you want.
- No tile fits? Press Draw (Draw game) or Pass (Block game).
- Empty your hand first to score the computer's remaining pips; 100 points wins the match.
How to play Dominoes
- The set has 28 tiles, from 0-0 to 6-6. Each player draws seven; in the Draw game the other fourteen form the boneyard.
- The first hand is opened by the highest double (or the heaviest tile). After that, the loser of the previous hand leads.
- On your turn, add one tile to either end of the line so the touching halves show the same number. Doubles are placed across the line.
- If you cannot play: in the Draw game take tiles from the boneyard until one fits (pass when it is empty); in the Block game pass straight away.
- A hand ends when a player plays their last tile — they score the pips left in the opponent's hand — or when neither can play: the lighter hand wins and scores the other's pips (equal hands score nothing).
- The first player to reach 100 points wins the match.
Controls
- Play: tap a tile; choose an end by tapping a glowing marker (or ← / →)
- Draw / pass: the Draw / Pass button, D or Space
- 1–9 pick a tile from your hand
Strategy tips
- Play heavy tiles early: if the hand is blocked or lost, the pips left in your hand count against you.
- Keep a mix of numbers so you can follow most ends.
- When the computer draws or passes, it lacks those numbers — try to leave them at the ends.
- Doubles are hard to place late; get rid of them while their number is still in play.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the Draw and Block games?
In the Draw game you take tiles from the boneyard until you can play. In the Block game there is no boneyard: if you cannot play, you pass, so hands block more often.
How is a hand scored?
The player who empties their hand scores the total pips in the opponent's hand. If neither can play, the hand with fewer pips wins and scores the other's total.
Is Dominoes free?
Yes. It is completely free to play in your browser, with no download, no account and no in-game purchases.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. Tiles are sized for touch and the line wraps into rows to fit your screen.
