Chinese Checkers — free online Board game
Hop your marbles across the star and fill the far point first.
Chinese Checkers is the classic star-board race game, free to play in your browser. Move your ten marbles from your point of the star into the opposite one. Each turn, step to a neighbouring hole or hop over any marble — yours or an opponent's — and keep chaining hops as long as you can. The first player to fill the far point wins. Play one computer opponent or two at once, at easy, normal or hard; hard plans its own long hop chains a move ahead. Undo is available and your fastest wins are recorded. No download, no sign-up.
Quick start
- Press Start. Your red marbles are at the bottom point; the empty point at the top is your goal.
- Tap a red marble, then a green hole to move it there. Long hops are shown as a single move.
- Race all ten marbles into the top point before the computer fills its own goal.
How to play Chinese Checkers
- The board is a six-pointed star of 121 holes. Each player starts with ten marbles in one point and must move them all into the opposite point.
- A turn is one move: either step into a neighbouring empty hole, or hop.
- A hop jumps over one adjacent marble (any colour) into the empty hole directly behind it. After a hop you may keep hopping from the new hole, in any direction, as long as each hop is legal. Steps and hops cannot be mixed.
- Marbles are never captured — hopping only moves you.
- The first player with all ten marbles in the opposite point wins. If the point is full and some holes are taken by an opponent who never left, you still win once the point is full and holds your marbles.
Controls
- Move: tap your marble, then a green hole
- Cancel: tap the marble again or press Esc
- Take back your last move: the Undo button or U
- New game: the New game button, a difficulty or the number of opponents
Strategy tips
- Build ladders: marbles spaced one hole apart in a line let you hop several times in one turn.
- Do not leave a straggler at home — the last marble often costs the most turns.
- Use your opponent's marbles as stepping stones too; they move every turn, so look again before each move.
- Fill the far point from the tip backwards so later marbles have room to land.
